Options and Futures in Financial Decision Making provides an essential course for professionals navigating the financial sector. It delves into understanding derivatives - a critical class of securities that play pivotal roles in financial management.
The curriculum begins by exploring options, futures, swaps markets characteristics, their functioning mechanisms, and the dynamics within these markets. Next, the fundamental economic theories that underpin pricing and hedging strategies for derivatives are examined and discussed. The course then transitions into practical applications across finance sectors - including risk management through hedging, portfolio insurance techniques, index arbitrage methodologies, and corporate financial decisions.
This learning experience will be enriched with lectures, discussions on current market conditions in derivative markets, and engaging trading simulations to reinforce theoretical concepts.
Previously known as FIN 380 prior to the academic year Fall 2014.
